Jia Junming developed a bond with the piano at an early age. Through long-term artistic study and practice, she gradually formed a profound understanding of piano performance and music education. In pursuit of a higher artistic realm, she went to Russia for further study, systematically researching piano performance and deeply absorbing the essence of the Russian piano school—its rigor, delicacy and emphasis on emotional expression. She achieved all-round improvement in performing techniques, work interpretation and stage expression, and eventually obtained her piano doctorate with outstanding academic performance. Her overseas study not only solidified her professional foundation but also strengthened her career direction: to nourish the soul with music and serve the public with art. After returning to China, she has long been rooted in frontline piano education, integrating her professional knowledge with teaching practice, and demonstrating the responsibility and commitment of an artist with passion and perseverance.
In academic research, Jia Junming adheres to integrating theory with practice, devoting herself to piano performance and teaching research with solid achievements. She has published professional academic papers including Special Performance Methods of Ornamentations and A Comparative Analysis of the Creative Characteristics of Debussy and Ravel and Piano Performance Techniques, conducting systematic research on key issues such as ornamentation performance techniques, stylistic features of Impressionist works, and the application of piano performance skills. Her research stands at the professional frontier while closely connecting with teaching practice, featuring both theoretical depth and practical value, providing important references for enriching the piano teaching system and improving learners’ performance levels. As a senior expert in domestic piano education, Jia Junming has long been active in major artistic competition platforms at home and abroad, contributing to the selection of young musical talents as a professional judge. Since 2018, she has successively served as a judge for the Beijing Finals of Asian Rising Stars, the National Finals of China Youth Piano Open, the Finals of the 5th Chopin International Youth Piano Open, the China-US International Arts Festival Competition, the National Finals of the 8th Chopin International Youth Piano Open, the National Finals of China-Thailand Outstanding Youth Arts Festival, the National Finals of the 6th UK-China Youth International Arts Festival, the 7th China-Australia Boao Arts Festival, and the Paris International Music and Arts Competition in France. In judging work, she always upholds the principles of fairness, impartiality, professionalism and rigor, listening carefully to every contestant’s performance, offering detailed comments and patient guidance, discovering artistic potential with a professional vision and encouraging young growth with a warm attitude. For her outstanding performance in piano education, she was awarded the title of “Pioneer in China Piano Education” in 2020, winning wide recognition in the industry.
In teaching practice, the most distinctive feature of Jia Junming is the organic integration of professional piano training and psychological guidance. As an expert at the China Institute of Psychology, she deeply understands that learning the piano is not only skill training but also a process of psychological growth and emotional expression.
